Skype may be on eBay’s auction block (no pun intended). Among the potential buyers for such a property are the usual suspects
Such a move by Google could be very interesting indeed! Mash this up with Google’s purchase of number-for-life purveyor GrandCentral and big G’s open platform for mobile handsets, and you’d almost be convinced that Google had some sort of long term strategic plan here.
Of course, Google has the resources to make this purchase just so others don’t have the technology to themselves. Not that this would really fit into the Google pattern, but would any would-be mobile operator be willing to let Skype out in the open? I think not!
