Google Says, “Umm, No.” to OpenOffice.org

Here’s some interesting news from the world of WOS (Web & Open source Software).  My guess is that it will have more of an impact on Microsoft than on OpenOffice.org, but still, it seems a bit counter intuitive at first glance.

Google adds StarOffice to GooglePack (not OpenOffice)

move is slightly perplexing, as OpenOffice.org is absolutely free, and
it’s built on StarOffice source code. The main difference between the
two office suites is that StarOffice includes some proprietary
graphics, fonts, and templates.
