Posted by telecommatt on January 16, 2008

Want To See How I Make A Screencast? « Demo Girl

I decided to show you what steps I go through before, during, and after recording a screencast to end up with what you normally will see as an end product on DemoGirl.

After solving the dilemma caused by trying to record a screencast of yourself doing a screencast, Demo Girl shows us how she puts together her demo videos using Camtasio Studio software. For those of us who downloaded Camtasia 3.1 for free, this is a great opportunity to learn how to use it!

Find Your Stolen USB Device For Free With iHound

Posted by telecommatt on November 27, 2007

Theft: Track Your USB Devices with iHound

Portable application iHound aims to make it easy to locate your items and report their theft if they’ve fallen into the wrong hands.

How cool is that? Sort of like OnStar for your flashdrive! I live in the land of Minnesota Nice, so chances are I’ve just misplaced whatever device I’m missing, but this looks like a really great safeguard for any USB device. iHound is currently free. The developer reportedly is considering charging $1 a month beginning February. With how much I have on my flashdrive, I’d gladly hand over $12 a year to catch the guy who yarfed all my data!

Download Camtasia Studio 3.1 (Legally) For Free

Posted by telecommatt on November 23, 2007

Techsmith offers free Camtasia Studio download – Download Squad

The company is offering its popular Camtasia Studio software up as a free download. The screencasting software currently sells for $300.

Not sure how long this is going on for, but you can’t argue with free professional grade software! I could be wrong, but I believe that this is the same screencastware that Demo Girl uses to create her masterful presentations. Of course, there is a catch. The free download is for version 3.1, not the current version 5.0. Although, there is an offer to upgrade for half price if you want the (many) additional features that have been added in the current version.

Download Evernote For Free Today Only

Posted by telecommatt on November 15, 2007

Download EverNote for free (today only) – Download Squad

An EverNote license will normally set you back $50, but Giveaway of the Day is offering up a free copy today only.

SWEET!! It doesn’t get much better than Evernote when it comes to free form organizational software. You can clip from the web, drag and drop from almost anywhere, set up templates and forms, and it even performs handwriting recognition (rather well, too).

You owe it to yourself to check this software out. Even if you miss the free download, the standard free version is more than adequate for most people’s needs.

Capture A Yeti With Yawcam

Featured Windows Download: Turn Your Webcam into a Motion-Sensing Security Camera with Yawcam

Windows only: Got a webcam bundled with your last computer but don’t know what to do with it?

Yawcam

I spent an afternoon playing with this awhile back. It is sort of neat, but I’m not sure how much use it really is. Unless the ‘motion’ is a few feet from the cam in a well-lit area, the end result looks like you’re trying to photograph a Yeti.

Google Hacks helps you find what you’re looking for – Download Squad

Google HacksThis program takes all those obscure Google search operators and sticks them behind one convenient graphical interface.
